Eddie Hunt, Consultant

  • Eddie qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1972, but it took only a few years to realise that producing accounts for people who claimed already to know the results was not for him. A chance comment resulted in an offer of an interview with the local liquidator and, following the release of The Godfather, a refusal seemed inadvisable.

This was at an exciting time in the world of insolvency and corporate recovery, providing opportunities to attend Court more frequently than an habitual criminal, including successfully representing himself on more than one occasion in the High Court. Eddie was involved in drafting the 1986 insolvency legislation and was supervisor of the first ever individual voluntary arrangement. There followed experience of every type of insolvency appointment, with appointments under the proceeds of crime and drug trafficking legislation thrown in for good measure.

Having been the senior partner in a firm in Hereford and the local office of a national firm, Eddie retired in 2004, intending to indulge his interest in fast cars. However, boredom and other factors meant that the opportunity to return to hands-on insolvency work was very appealing.

Away from work, Eddie’s interests include fast cars and, when they are not available, walking in the countryside of the wonderful Marches.
